"Central City - Auckland"

I am trying to make a point of taking a few photos every day, so I am going to take photos of things I think are interesting around the central city in Auckland when I am there. Including works of art like the statures that are around the city.

This is painted on the wall outside of the Britomart train station. The Huia is a New Zealand bird that went extinct in the 20th century.

This is a statute, (obviously :) ), called Aspiration" and was made by Roderick Burgess. It's on Upper Lorne Street, which is just up from the central city public library.

This is a sculpture called "Homage to Will" and is by Fred Loopstra. It is in Victoria Park, which is just outside the central city in Auckland.

This mural was done on a wall facing a pack lot behind the Caltex that is opposite Victoria Park in the city. It's by BMD - bmdisyourfriend.com.

This is the same artist(s) who did the art work on the Cat Cargo Container, that was on The Cloud at the end of last year (2013).

This sculpture is called "Gateway" and is by Chris Booth. It's on the bottom of Albert Park in the central city and can be seen from Queen Street.

This mural ws painted in 2002 and is opposite the Auckland Public Hospital, which is about a five to ten minute walk from the end of Queen Street. The url at the very top of this mural is disruptive.com, but that is no longer valid and re-directs to a company :(

These two boxes are about 30 seconds walk from each and are just to the left on K Road as you come up from Queen Street.

There are small individual pieces of street art, and graffiti, down Fort Lane. Fort Lane is one of the short mainly pedestrian streets running next to Queen Street with mainly night clubs, restaurants and cafes on it.

This is on the back of a cargo container on the public area of the wharf and is called "Marine Birds". It was painted by Elliot Francis Stewart, who also painted "A Wee Drop".
